Las Tunas, Cuba.- The rector of the institution, Aurora Ramos de las Heras, said that 457 students graduated from 25 careers in social sciences, humanities and engineering; as well as 25 of the short cycle training programs that will contribute to building the future of the country.
The Master of Science said that the graduates have conquered an objective that demanded efforts and commitment, for which they appreciated the important role played by families in the guidance of young people. She asked them, on behalf of the cloister, to continue on the path of improvement and investigation; she also urged them to give their knowledge, energies and virtues to society and to be faithful to the legacy of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro.
Among the graduates are 30 agronomists, necessary to continue transforming agriculture; 22 in Economics and 31 in Accounting and Finance, which will contribute to strengthen control in the business and budgeted sectors; 254 graduates in pedagogical careers, 13 in Physical Culture, 28 in Law and 14 in Social Communication. Some 45 industrial engineers and 8 computer scientists, among others, also received their Diploma.
At the event, 32 students that stand out for their academic index and student trajectory received the Gold Diploma. The Scientific Merit Award was granted to six graduates with extensive research curricula; the integral vanguards in areas such as teaching, culture, research, sports and assistantship were also recognized.
Beatriz Tamayo Ramírez, from the discipline of Educational Psychology, was selected the most integral graduate of the University. Her broad curriculum includes the completion of more than 30 prize exams and more than 20 scientific publications. Beatriz participated in some 31 national and international events; as well she obtained the Prize of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment in 2018, was founder of the Reparador de Sueños extension project and excelled as a student leader.
Tamayo Ramírez told those present that "everything that distinguishes and makes the Cuban homeland great has had its genesis in the classrooms. It is our responsibility to give back to all those who have guided and accompanied us, especially Fidel Castro, guide and beacon of our generation, with quality and commitment to the new responsibilities."
