A school course that finishes is the end of a page, a notebook in which day to day adventures were written, with crayons and watercolors. At this time, this book is closed and the best memories and knowledge are captured in its pages. This happens in these parts, where the educational sector dismisses the teaching calendar with many successes.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- When we ask the provincial director of the branch, Nílser Piñeda Cruz, about the main successes he says that we cannot be triumphalists, although Las Tunas was raised among the four most outstanding provinces of the country for the sixth consecutive year. Attendance and retention above 99 percent in all teaching levels speak eloquently of the responsibility with which educators work here and the support they receive from the families.

The executive says that "we know that there is still work to be done while there is a dissatisfied parent. Meanwhile, our schools have remained open and fulfilled most of the purposes, in addition to the achievements in the daily learning of the students and the continuity of studies, allow us to affirm that the fruits are superior with respect to the previous period."

Early Childhood covers more than 99 percent of the population of these ages through institutional and non-institutional care. The main problems at this level are related to unanswered demands due to lack of places in kindergarten, whose only solution would be the construction of new facilities. However, in the next September 6,165 infants, all those who correspond to do so, will enter the preschool level in childcare centers, schools and the Educate Your Child Program.

Piñeda Cruz explains that "Primary Education is the most massive and its indicators exceed the national average." It had the peculiarity of being the object of international control of student learning, with favorable results. It is worth to highlight that 99 centers have the modality of two teachers for each group of up to 25 students, which places them in a privileged position to attend the individualities of the students.

"The Secondary School raises its indicators and ensures the continuity of studies to the 5,151 young people who finished ninth grade, of which more than two thousand will be enrolled to the pre-university of the territory and more than three thousand to the Technical and Professional Education. The latter meets the demand of the organizations as employers in the professional training of graduates with the proper functioning of 473 adjoining classrooms, workshops, polygons, field areas and the development of different types of practices."

The local pedagogical schools are currently established as an essential way for the successful formation of teachers that the Educational System needs. Now they have graduated 354 in the specialties of Early Childhood, Primary Education, Special Education and English for Primary, and recently granted 691 new places to ninth grade students who requested admission to these precincts as a first option. A challenge faced by its teaching staff is to improve efficiency in the cycle, which it stands at 65.5 percent.

Many challenges will bring the next teaching calendar, to generalize in all the schools of the province the methods of work of the Educational Improvement. The opening of language schools in each municipality is aimed at respond to the needs of improvement, in this sense, of young people and adults. It will be a, essentially, a new opportunity to build an education rich in knowledge and values.
