Las Tunas, Cuba.- Nílser Piñeda Cruz, provincial director of Education, explained to the Cuban News Agency that with the provisions and the necessary protocols adopted by the branch in the territory, the insertion of a large number of these teachers will allow raising the teaching coverage of the province from 96 to 99 percent.

The director said that a process of consultation began, from the moment that the government spoke on the subject, for those professionals who had once abandoned the teaching and who now wish to return.

A review of the performance in the last educational centers where the teachers worked in, in the community, and the necessary disposition and preparation to maintain and even raise the indicators that Las Tunas exhibits in education, with commitment and responsibility, are some of the elements that the process comprises.

The impact of the measure has been very positive, even when Las Tunas has not been characterized by a high deficit or the poor return of retirees to the classroom. Likewise, the graduations of the two pedagogical schools of the province, the University College and the support of different professionals through the contract modality, have now been able to give a greater response to the needs of the schools.

Piñeda Cruz concluded saying that regarding the training of teachers in prioritized subjects such as Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Geography and Spanish, in which we have had debts in recent years with the enrollment and graduation of professionals in these specialized courses, it is expected that gradually the salary measures solve this problem.

Many factors have enabled Las Tunas to maintain the status of Outstanding for six consecutive years such as the successes in the national knowledge competitions and the advances in the application of the forms of work of the third improvement of education in 32 popular councils. Besides, the guarantee of studies and promotion and the rapid response in the recovery of the schools before the effects of meteorological phenomena certify the constant work of its teachers.
