Las Tunas.- The materialization of this plan includes expansion, repair of buildings and maintenance, which guarantees that the coming September 2nd, more than 600 schools in the province are ready to begin the school calendar.
Gabriel Peña Mora, head of the Investment Department at the Provincial Directorate of Education in Las Tunas, told the Cuban News Agency, that a balance of what has been done to date showed that although 77 works were planned initially, in the course of the work other objects were detected that also needed interventions for their total functioning.
Peña Mora argued that in this sense, almost thirty actions were undertaken that were not planned and there are currently 24 maintenance tasks in progress and a dozen that are not initiated. Nevertheless, the completion of 10 is expected for the start of the teaching period.
He explained that the effort overcomes the main effects that the province shows in the investment plan in the construction and assembly component, which is influenced by the fuel deficit for the transport of the labor force and materials, the lack of raw material for the manufacture of furniture, mainly for computer and audiovisual equipment, among other factors.
In addition, the shortage of sanitary pieces, iron ware, roofs, waterproofing, doors, pipes and hydro-sanitary connections stands out, which requires a correct and responsible administration of financial, material and human resources.
He added that from those that are still in the plan, there are seven schools in the rural areas evaluated as regular, belonging to the Primary, Secondary, and Pre-university education, which are included in the projections until 2020.
Las Tunas has been characterized by the speedy recovery of its educational institutions in the face of any weather phenomenon, effects that generated decisions on the provision of construction materials and the support of teachers, family, workers and neighbors of these schools so that the educative process do not stop.
