Las Tunas, Cuba - This statement was confirmed by Nílser Piñeda Cruz, provincial director of Education, during the press conference in TunasVision channel of the main leaders of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC by its Spanish acronym) and the Government in Las Tunas.
He informed that according to the current situation of public transport, the timetables for entering and leaving the 28 children's day care centres of the province will be more flexible. Besides, these centers will only operate from Monday to Friday.
Primary, pre-university and polytechnic schools will concentrate classes in the morning; in the afternoons, the teachers will guide specific tasks and the houses of study will function.
Piñeda Cruz assured that the semi-boarding schools have guaranteed the cooking of food, and the school snack in the case of the secondary schools. In the case of this teaching, the lunchtime is extended until 2:00 pm, as a facility for students who choose to do this activity t home.
The boarding students are currently taking a rest at home, but fuel is assured for the return to the centres. The director said that the next break will take place on October and by that date there will be more stability. He also recognized the good work done by the 639 schools of General Education in the territory, since the beginning of the school year last September 2nd.
According to the words of the Minister of Education, Ena Elsa Velázquez Cobiella, in the meeting of the Council of Ministers held last Thursday; the necessary measures will be adopted to ensure the proper performance of the school year. The Minister called for extreme savings in institutions, especially in activities such as the cooking of food and the use of laboratories. The latters will reduce their activity to the minimum time and should never be used during peak hours.
The local universities are also reorganising their processes. In the upcoming week, the daytime course will be taught from Monday to Thursday, and the length of class shifts will be reduced from 45 to 30 minutes.
