Las Tunas, Cuba.- Among the measures adopted by the institution, the Master in Science mentioned that "the duration of class shifts is reduced from 90 to 60 minutes; the schedules of the computer labs and the library are modified; teaching in the day course is from Monday to Thursday, in this third week of September and in the fourth week the students go to their municipalities to develop work practices. "
The course for workers also adjusts the shifts to 60 minutes and reduces the presence, according to the internal analysis of each specialty. In the municipal university centers the teaching is maintained for all the majors and in each of them will make the necessary adjustments according to the particularities of the localities.
"We will apply a flexible schedule for non-teaching workers, so that the services provided by the center are guaranteed. In the same way, we will strengthen the work of teachers from their homes with specific tasks such as the preparation of subjects and materials, the organization of category changes, the creation of scientific articles; and computerization will help a lot, since many of them have their own equipment and have remote access from their homes to the University network," said the rector.
Other provisions include the concentration of meetings to avoid the unnecessary displacement of people, the regulation of water pumping at times that do not affect the preparation of food and the change in the hours of the dining room service. The campuses will be open from Monday to Thursday, the accommodation service for professors will be limited to the maximum, and if any student from another province needs to stay on the residence halls during the weekend, it will be evaluated in a timely manner.
Ramos de las Heras said that the "25 Aniversario" contingent of the University Students Federation (FEU) will develop outreach in the brigades and will also check compliance with this plan of measures. The theme of energy saving has been incorporated into the University Radio; likewise, the staff guarantee the rational use of the assigned fuel, protect the vehicle park in the University areas, and the energy council keeps permanently activated to monitor the results of the actions.
The rector of the University of Las Tunas assured a favorable response from the university community: workers and students will make the greatest effort so that all processes are carried out successfully.
Regarding accreditation, scheduled for the end of November, she said that "we had several tasks in place during these months to prepare for this process, but under these circumstances we will ensure that everything goes well. It is one of our main motivations this school year."
