"The fundamental challenge of the Association of Cuban Pedagogues (APC by its Spanish acronyms) is to inculcate the principles and achievements of the Revolution in the new generations that we educate today in the classrooms," said Gilberto García Batista, national president of that organization, to 26Digital during his participation in the Expanded Provincial Board held here, to assess the achievement of the 2019 goals.

Las Tunas, Cuba - The Doctor of Science stated that APC has today more than 42 thousand associates in the country and plays an important role in overcoming educators, as a consequence of its scientific character. He reflected on the debt they still have to motivate the newest ones towards the pedagogical profession and explained that for this they count on the research project Educadores destacados del siglo XX (Outstanding Educators of the 20th Century) in Cuba, which aims to rescue from the municipalities the importance of the work of the teacher.

When evaluating the management of the Provincial Branch of Las Tunas and the more than two thousand teachers that integrate it, he confirmed that it is in development and highlighted that it has increased its membership, has groups in the main educational centers of the territory and has strengthened the work in pedagogical schools. As something very positive, he mentioned that the average age of its members is decreasing, which responds to the organization's projection of incorporating more young educators into its ranks.

The achievements of the Balcony of Eastern Cuba included the training of the entire board of directors and the group coordinators; the incorporation of 110 new associates this year, as well as the spaces for debates.

It is also recognized the active participation of local professionals in the elaboration of materials for the Third Improvement of Education in Cuba and the development of workshops and events that impact and socialize good practices.

Among the dissatisfactions that persist were the insufficient incorporation of students into the APC of pedagogical careers, the integral functioning of the groups and the absence of a place for the Provincial Board of Directors.

The participants pronounced themselves for the need to support the preparation of young teachers through ethics and Pedagogy and for the work of the organization to have as a priority the transformation of the school and the community.
