They traveled to Africa to fight the fiercest of battles against death. The mere name of the enemy was frightening: Ebola. They did not relent and they triumphed. They went armed with nothing more than the commitment of those who would give up their own lives in the effort to save others.

Two years later, in the same square from which they departed in October 2014, in the Central Unit of Medical Cooperation, the Cuban professionals of the Henry Reeve Brigade who participated in the fight against the Ebola virus in West Africa were awarded the medal commemorating the 60th anniversary of the Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR) by the Council of State of the Republic of Cuba.

Pinar del Río.- For centuries medicinal mineral waters have been sought out to cure diseases or relieve pain. There are even those who claim that this is one of the oldest forms of treatment. But why are they thought to be good for one's health?

Dr. Dagoberto Blanco Padilla, director of the San Diego de Los Baños Thermal Baths Resort, Cuba's oldest, located in the municipality of Los Palacios, explains, "The difference between these waters as compared to normal types, stems from their chemical and biological composition, coupled with springing at high temperatures."

Cuban Drug Research Center Announces 48 New Projects

An investment was planned to increase six times the production of the current plant Havana.- The Center for Research and Development of Medicines (CIDEM by its Spanish acronym), belonging to BioCubaFarma business group, has 48 projects in research of products for human use, announced an expert of that institution.

Dr. Orlando Perdomo, CICEM Director of Research and Development, told ACN that the portfolio is divided into innovative lines that are in turn in new chemical entities, drugs and molecules.

Roswell Park is then the only facility in the United States that offers this groundbreaking treatment.

CIMAvax-EGF vaccine is a lung cancer treatment that was developed by researchers with the Havana-based Molecular Immunology Center.
