Las Tunas.-  The Alberto Arcos Luque polyclinic in Bartle – a community located some 23 kilometers from Las Tunas city- stands out for the inclusion of patients for treatment with Heberprot-P, a Cuban product, which accelerates the healing of diabetic foot ulcers.

The institution had planned incorporating 12 patients into this procedure during the current year; and they have managed to include eight peoplein only three months, a result that proves the commitment and love in finding those affected with the condition.

Felisa González Baldoquín, responsible for the program in the community told 26Digital: "I am dedicated to my patients; the happiest days of my life are when I see the recovery of any of them. The area has 13 medical offices and although they are distant because it is a rural community, I visit them all. I always ask the medical staff if there are any patients, but I am not satisfied with their answer and go to inquire in the houses. That is where you will find the cases."

"In the case of a very complicated lesion I do not hesitate to take the patient to the Dr. Ernesto Guevara hospital, to be attended by the angiologist and from then on taking the most appropriate behaviour. I do my best to avoid amputations and hospitalization."

Felicia's work along with local podiatrists is crucial on the current achievements of the province, which has held first place in the national program for three consecutive years. This 2016 it is expected to include 712 patients, in correspondence with the full potential of the territory.
