Las Tunas, Cuba.- Viviana Gutiérrez Rodríguez, director of the Health facility, told 26Digital that this year's investment was destined for the expansion of the family building in the Information area. The purpose has been to expand the rest room and improve the furniture, air conditioning and bathrooms.
Families will have greater comfort for the temporary stay, although it is not designed to stay overnight. During the remainder of the year, the constructor entity has to place the toilets, sinks and showers that will make possible the cleaning of the relatives; works there will continue in 2019.
The Anatomical Pathology ward, included in the repair and maintenance program, is one of the most complex works from the structural point of view. It is currently in the phase of rising walls, tiling, replacement of the hydro-sanitary network, and works will continue the next year.
A renewed image shows the Emergency unit. Jorge Luis Guzmán la Oz, head of the Department of Investment and Maintenance of the health facility, said that consultations of Ophthalmology, Orthopedics and Surgery were concluded, and the Emergency Laboratory was remodeled.
The repair works in this hospital area included the placement of metallic carpentry, the change of the hydro-sanitary network and the painting of the corridors. The next calendar "we will intend to move the Observation ward to another space to increase the number of beds, taking into account the increase in medical care and income of patients from different municipalities in the territory."
The completion of the cold room of the Morgue, which will solve an old problem in this province, is also a priority in 2018. Likewise, the restoration of the refrigeration chambers to conserve food and the arrangements of the roof in the Ophthalmology surgery unit.
The rehabilitation process also includes transformations in the field of communication and information technology. "We have a modernized whiteboard through Etecsa and today we install new equipment that will allow direct communication, more feasible than the previous ones, with the relatives who are here," says Dr. Viviana Gutiérrez.
"Other easiness are the image digitizers and Wi-Fi networks that allow the exchange between our professionals, and we are also at the beginning of a process that seeks to computerize the clinical histories".
The infrastructure of the "Guevara", with 38 years of existence, has suffered a great deterioration. Each one of the constructive actions contributes to revitalize the installation, one of the most important of the health system in Las Tunas.
