More than 24,330 children from this province will be immunized during the second stage of the 58th Oral Polio Vaccination Campaign, which began today and will run until April 27, coinciding with the Vaccination Week of the Americas and the World Immunization Week.

The poliomyelitis is a very contagious disease that mainly affects children and can cause paralysis. The 85 million 200 thousand doses of this vaccine applied from 1962 to 2018 have guaranteed the protection of the Cuban population under 71 years of age.
