Seasonal Influenza Vaccination Campaign

During the current Influenza Vaccination Campaign, which began on July 1st, the seasonal influenza vaccine is administered to more than 29,500 inhabitants of Las Tunas in order to prevent serious complications with the disease.

 

Las Tunas, Cuba - Adults aged 85 and older ones, people institutionalized in elderly home care, grandparents' homes and psychopedagogical centers are among the risk groups that will be benefited in this summer month.

At the same time, infants, asthmatic and diabetic patients aged between 18 and 24, those who suffer from chronic renal insufficiency, patients with infantile cerebral palsy and cystic fibrosis, as well as chronic psychiatric patients in health institutions receive this protection.

Poultry and livestock workers exposed to the risk of influenza are also immunized.

According to the health authorities, all pregnant women will be given the vaccination, and those identified after the end of the campaign are guaranteed the vaccine until April 2020, when it expires.

The period of application in pediatric age will extend until September 1st, as they will receive two doses with an interval of four weeks.

This vaccination campaign, carried out every year in the country, is a sample of the government's effort to raise levels of health care and improve the quality of life of citizens.
