Havana, Cuba.- A total of 350 scientific works were received by the 7th International Congress on Medical Urgencies, Emergencies and Intensive Care (URGRAV 2017) in its second day at the Havana Convention Center Thursday.

 

Agamenón Quintero, vicepresident of the Pan American Federation of Critical Medicine and Intensive Therapies, called here to support congresses like this, saying that they highly benefit patients from the region, and that is why "we should support events like this, as a regional institution."

Pedro Véliz, president of the National Council of Scientific Associations, highlighted the quality of the papers presented and said in advance that 8 master and 32 special conferences will be offered, not only by Cubans, but by foreign specialists as well.

Also, there will be 12 round tables, 40 free topics and 4 panels, with the presentation of 120 posters and the opening of a commercial fair. The best works presented, will be awarded during the congress, which will conclude on Friday.

Quintero, also president of the Colombian Critical Medicine Association, warned that the work for the universalization of knowledge must go on, but there is still a lot to do.

Véliz added that the awards will be delivered by Doctor Sergio Ravel Hernández for the best paper in intensive medicine and of emergency for adults; and Doctor Enrique Guzmán Rodríguez, for the pediatric category. (PL)
