WHO Awards Public Health Prize to Cuba's Henry Reeve Contingent

Dr. Roberto Morales, Minister of Public Health of Cuba, and Cuban physician Felix Báez Sarría, who contracted the Ebola virus while on a medical mission to combat the epidemic in Sierra Leone, received the Prize on behalf of their colleagues.

On May 26, the World Health Organization (WHO) presented the Dr. Lee Jong-wook Memorial Prize for Public Health to Cuba's Henry Reeve medical contingent, in recognition of its work treating victims of natural disasters and serious epidemic

WHO Gives Cuban Henry Reeve Contingent the Public Health Award

The award was received by Dr. Felix Báez Sarría, member of the brigade, and the Public Health Minister of Cuba, Roberto Morales.

Geneva.- The World Health Organization (WHO) presented today the Public Health award in the memory of Dr. Lee Jong-wook to the Cuban medical contingent, Henry Reeve, for its work in facing natural disasters and serious epidemics.

The Henry Reeve International Medical Brigade of Physicians Specialized in Disasters and Serious Epidemics emerges on September 19th, 2005

Havana, Cuba.- Solidarity is again the banner of the "Henry Reeve" Cuban medical brigade, which today receives the Public Health Award in Memory of Dr. Lee Jong-wook, granted by the World Health Organization (WHO).
