With various educational activities on the benefits of breastfeeding, the province celebrates the World Breastfeeding Week, which this time aims to strengthen gender equity through the responsible integration of mothers and fathers to such important process.

Breastfeeding is a source of life that offers undoubted benefits to the health of the mother and the baby. Each year, the World Week (August 1 to 7) dedicated to this act of love promotes information to raise society's awareness on the need for its practice.

The nutritional advantages to exclusively breastfeed a baby during the first six months of life was the focus of the national scientific event held in this central Cuban province until today.

World Breastfeeding Week is starting in Cuba Wednesday to highlight the importance of this practice that protects newborns from deadly diseases.
