Cuban women make up today 69 percent of health and social assistance professionals since they took on the challenge of becoming doctors and nurses, two professions that were denied to them in the past.
The 5th National Meeting of Community Medical Genetics was held in Las Tunas, with the "Scientific research, an option in the prevention of genetic diseases" as main theme. Some 150 science professionals from all over the country attended the event.
With the satisfaction of the accomplished dutty, the first ten collaborators who were in Brazil as part of the More Doctors Program, aimed at improve the coverage of primary health care in the most remote and poorest areas of that nation arrived in Las Tunas.
