Las Tunas.- This eastern province became the fourth to produce 100,000 tons of sugar in the country during the 2015-2016 season; Ciego de Avila, Villa Clara and Matanzas had previously completed that figure.

Ariel Santana Santiesteban, member of the Central Committee and first secretary of the Cuban Communist Party in the territory, said that this achievement becomes a special encouragement to continue with greater impetus.

The political leader added that it requires discipline to take full advantage of the available resources and the working day, whose length would depend on the fulfilment of the task, timely and wise decisions, better attention to the workers, efficient staggered maintenance, agility in the solution of contingencies and rectifying working systems that require it.

Measures should be taken to ensure the freshness of the cane, as well as to reduce the most foreign matter and sucrose losses during the production process, and thus raise the main indicators of agro-industrial efficiency.

The province has accomplished only 54 percent of its production plan; but the estimated of sugarcane is at 104 percent. Therefore, the recipe for the remainder of the campaign is continue milling non-stop while there is cane and the weather conditions allow it.
