Las Tunas.- The well known Don Pacho furniture, mattresses, wickerwork and rattan for furniture manufacturing are among the materials by the base business unit (UEB) of the Vascal Local Industries in the municipality of Majibacoa, an entity that has broken its production records for four consecutive years.

Its work was improved through the implementation of a local development project for the manufacture of furniture and foam mattresses, which includes wood and upholstery furnishings, baby cots, chairs and others, that allowed finishing 2015 with values amounting to 2, 539,000 thousand pesos, which means a growth of 23 percent over the previous year, as Orestes Téllez Laguna, director of the UEB, told 26Digital.

Worksop located in the community of Arroyo Muerto"Majibacoa is the only municipality in the province that produces wickerwork for chair backs and rattan for furniture, which are made with yarey and are sold throughout the country.

Last year we made some 15,000 units of wickerwork and about 100,000 meters of rattan, and also stuffing mattresses. This year production is behaving favorably with the sense of belonging of the 114 workers, mostly women. "

The manufacture of games modules to support recreation in the communities, already underway, is among the lines of work, stressed Téllez. Each one includes bats, balls, dolls, a jumping rope, batons and others, made in the worksops located in the communities of Majibacoa, Omaja and Arroyo Muerto, and the town of Sabanilla.
