The Canadian market is consolidating its position as the largest issuer of customers to the installation, which also hosts Italians, Spaniards, Germans, British, and Cubans, the latter among the highest growth since 2010.

Brisas Covarrubias it is located on a strip of virgin beach of little more than two kilometers, scarce minutes from a coral reef and in the closeness of a protected area in which inhabit species like the sea cow and the American crocodile.

The Tourism authorities in the territory have announced that they will soon start construction for the expansion of this entity, which will increase its capacity to 245 rooms and related services such as swimming pool, beauty salons, restaurants, gyms and event rooms.

The possibility of a growth of the tourism activity has led to several local development projects in the city of Puerto Padre, about 40 kilometers away from the spa, which includes the revival of heritage and cultural values of the well known Blue Town of the Sugar Mills.

Relevant figures of the Cuban social life like the jazz musician Emiliano Salvador, writer Pablo Armando Fernández and the boxer Teófilo Stevenson were born in the town. There are also plenty of archaeological pieces from the pre-Columbian and colonial era like Salcedo Castle, a National Monument.
