Las Tunas, Cuba.- Ángel Luis Mas Sánchez, general director of the entity, informed that the territory has a demand of around 70 million eggs annually; and with the start-up of six new production ships will be able to supply from 2019 the requirements of the provincial consumption.
Mas Sanchez explained that they produce monthly 1.9 million eggs for the basic basket, 2.5 million for free sale and the needs of social consumption are also met: hospitals, schools, day care centers and the gastronomy network.
The Poultry Company of Las Tunas consists of nine base business units and three support, logistics and transport companies. Their workers are willing to take on the new investment project because it will allow the province to improve its location in terms of egg production in the country.
About 50 percent of the workers in this sector are women, who are responsible for collecting eggs and feeding the birds, which includes Sundays and holidays.
