Las Tunas, Cuba.- Adys, a resident in the Bracito community, in the municipality of Jobabo, confessed to the Cuban News Agency feeling very happy on this International Day of Rural Women, an event she previously did not know, but it is already part of her important dates.
"I owe my incorporation to the animal breeding program to the Project for Local Agricultural Innovation (PIAL, by its Spanish acronym). They learned that I had some pigs and goats, and sponsored me to multiply the offspring and achieve greater progress," explained Leyva Céspedes.
I started making some cheese to sell in Jobabo. As time went on, the flock grew; I already have 84 goats and I expect to reach 100.
The hefty woman pointed out that since 2015 she delivers goat's milk to the Rolando Rubio Becerra Basic Unit of Cooperative Production- up to 300 liters per month - and also offers this food, without charging a penny, to people who suffering from the stomach and need it.
She said that the solvency achieved thanks to the consistency in goats raising has allowed her to pay a worker to take care of the milking.
Regarding her participation in the International Congress of Animal Production, she said that she will feature her experience in breeding; but she said that the key to success lies in the continuous work, her link with the National Association of Small Farmers and the alliance with the Project for Local Agricultural Innovation that helps and trains her.

Goat Breeder from Las Tunas to International Congress
Written by Róger Aguilera - ACNAdys Leyva Céspedes will represent the province of Las Tunas in the International Congress of Animal Production, due to her dedication and prosperity in the breeding of goats. The meeting will take place in Havana from the 29th of the current month to November 1st.
