The damages of the U.S. economic, commercial and financial blockade to the Cuban system of public health amount to millionaire figures. The lack of reagents, some equipment and sanitary materials interfere in the diagnostic studies throughout the country.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- Assistance centers in the province of Las Tunas, such as the Dr. Ernesto Guevara de la Serna General Teaching Hospital, do not escape from this reality. Hospital areas, such as imaging, clinical laboratories and specialized medical studies suffer the lack of necessary resources.
"The unavailability of reagents in the laboratories causes that a series of special tests could not be done, especially those of enzymes, in the specialty of Cardiology, for example, "explains Ana Julia Rodríguez Vázquez, Deputy Director of Diagnostic Media at the main health center of Las Tunas.
"We do not have the required equipment to perform specific Radiology tests, as it is the case of AngioTAC. We have the computerized axial tomograph of 16 cuts, but we do not have the pump that is needed to make AngioTAC, a procedure that allows diagnosing cerebrovascular diseases," she added.
