It is the first community electrified this year in Las Tunas through the installation of photovoltaic panels in each house.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- "The longing could not be described when the rumor came in. We saw the workers of the Power Company arriving and we never imagined that they were going to do the installations the same day ", says Marianelis Ramírez, inhabitant of El Naranjal rural community, in this capital city.
"Before the installation of the solar panels, the day lasted a few hours and there was a terrible darkness at night," says Midalis Cabrera. "I am the coordinator of the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution, and I could never work at night because with a single lamp it was impossible to review and update my papers. I thank this Revolution."
Yandier Leyva, president of the Remigio Riverón Credit and Services Cooperative, joins this criterion by saying that the impact has been very favorable among the farmers. "This was an approach of the accountability assembly, now we can light up at home and watch TV to instruct ourselves and be up to date. We hope that when possible, we will receive the service of the National Power Grid, and thus conditions improve and we can produce more."
El Naranjal was the first community benefited this year with the installation of photovoltaic panels in each home. The electricity is installed through modules that include the panel, an inverter, two batteries, wiring and five lamps.
Omilton Rodríguez Rivas, director of investments in the Electricity Company, told 26Digital that "the electrification of 15 settlements was approved in 2016, where a total of 1,600 houses will be benefited".

  • He also explained that of the 666 isolated homes without electricity service in the province, 200 will benefit from the entry of new modules of solar panels, and it is expected that this year will enter the remainder coming from China.
