The Majibacoa sugar mill became the first Cuban industry to meet the plan for the so-called small harvest, which closes on December 31th, after producing 15,447 tons of sugar 15 days before the scheduled.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- The agro-industrial workers needed just 34 days to achieve the result, with an industrial yield above the forecasted, an indicator favored by the high volumes of fresh cane in the milling plant.
Other outstanding aspects are the high energy efficiency, since at the stage it self-supplied at 118 percent and delivered 1,232 MW / h to the National Electric Power System (SEN); as well as positive dividends in the production of derivatives, such as fine wax, animal feed and bagasse packaging, among others.
The workers of the youngest sugar mill in the province must produce about 60 thousand tons of sugar in the 2018-2019 harvest, which should be completed in March if the weather is favorable and the cane supply remains stable.
Julio García Pedraza, general director of the AZCUBA sugar company in Las Tunas, told that the fulfillment of the small harvest plan in the "Majibacoa" reaffirms the commitment of the sugar workers to finish the year with 40 thousand tons, a result that would place the province in a privileged position in the aspiration to exceed 170 thousand tons in the current campaign.
García Pedraza said that there are potential to achieve that goal, weather conditions behave very favorable and the three plants in operations report good parameters of efficiency in the manufacturing process.
