The heavy rains caused damages in houses, agriculture and other facilities

Only 13 houses had been recovered in the province of Las Tunas after the damage caused by the intense rains between days 6 and 8 of the current month.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- This minimal number shows the need to expedite a task of the first order for the affected families since 39 properties with total and partial damage remain to be restored.

The municipality of Jobabo is an example that a rapid recovery of the houses can be achieved because of the 17 hit households, some ten have already been recovered.

If Jobabo is taken as a reference, Manatí should have finished the two damaged houses and has only done so with one. The provincial capital has a worse situation, with only one restored, of the 10 affected; the municipalities of Puerto Padre, Jesús Menéndez, Majibacoa, Colombia, and Amancio have not repaired any of the properties, which add up to 24.

In the Health sector, hospitals, polyclinics, medical offices, maternity homes, grandparents' houses, pharmacies, and nursing homes were damaged; 42 of the 47 institutions that suffered the onslaught of rainfall have already been recovered, an effort in response to the urgency of this stage when the hurricane season constitutes a constant alert.

The agriculture sector has worked on 636 hectares and 574 are planted again, out of the 1,468 affected. However, hardly any work has been done on the repair of the 88 kilometers of nine roads and trails, nor the railway, construction works, and bridges damaged by the meteorological event.

The reservoirs of the province are at 66 percent of their filling capacity, with 232 million 700 thousand cubic meters of water, and at the close of this information, six were relieving.
