MSc Nelson Reyes González, territorial director of the Telecommunications Company of Cuba S.A. (Etecsa), said that the improvement of the infrastructure that enables the computerization of society will continue to be a priority.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- Reyes reported, in the meeting carried out to evaluate the performance of the entity in 2018, that during the past year in the "Balcony of Eastern Cuba" the plans for the growth of the Internet service were surpassed, a key aspect of the Cuban computerization strategy.

More than 38 thousand cell phone lines and 31 Wifi zones were activated in the aforementioned period, while 13 mobile base stations already have 3G technology, he said. Likewise, he added, they installed more than 30 kilometers of optical fiber and activated 3,100 Nauta Hogar household Internet services.

"The processes of computerization personally promoted by our president Miguel Díaz-Canel depend on our efficiency," pointed out Reyes González. Therefore, he asked for a proactive attitude of all managers and workers to identify the needs that in this sense have the institutions of social impact act such as Education, Health and Culture. "That will allow us to better plan future investments," Reyes said.

If in 2018,Etecsa in Las Tunas set records in the figures of investment in the telecommunications infrastructure, by 2019 it is planned to continue improving, especially the capacity and quality of data and voice transmission, as well as connectivity, both in the public and private sectors of the territory.
