Las Tunas, Cuba.- All the material and human assurances provided to guarantee the direct and transparent exercise of the suffrage will be tested, said Martha Rodríguez Martínez, president of the Provincial Electoral Commission.
Thus, the 1,282 polling stations will be opened this Sunday in order to evaluate the quality of the documentation, composition of their respective electoral tables, the presence of the collaborators, supervisors, as well as the rest of the support staff, without forgetting key elements as the different variants of communication between each of these places and the computer centers, she added.
Rodríguez Martínez commented that more than half of the members of constituency commissions here are women and that on the day of the referendum 11,000 girls and boys will guard the ballot boxes in this eastern territory.
She also pointed out that of the more than 400,000 Las Tunas inhabitants summoned to the polls on February 24th to ratify or not the new constitutional text, 6,214 will vote for the first time, since they have already met 16 years-old.
