Las Tunas, Cuba.- Although the figures are still preliminary, that percentage of inflow the polling places shows the confidence of the citizens in the electoral system and also their interest in express an opinion about the new Magna Carta, approved by Parliament last December after being submitted to popular consultation for almost four months.

"Today is a very special day for Las Tunas, the Constitution contains inherited values from Martí and Fidel legacies, it demonstrates the continuity of the Cuban process and fidelity with our predecessors," said Ariel Santana Santiesteban, member of the Central Committee of the Cuban Communist Party and its first secretary in the province, after casting his vote. "Cuba, he said, sends a message through the constitutional referendum that socialism is the most viable system and the only alternative for our people."
Jaime Chiang Vega, president of the Provincial Assembly of the People's Power, meant the importance of holding the referendum on this day, when a new anniversary of the start of the Necessary War, organized by José Martí, the Cuban National Hero, is commemorated. "It is a high honor for all Cubans; it is a commitment with the work of the Revolution for 60 years," affirmed to reiterate his confidence that the Yes vote would prevail. "This Constitution has been built among all the people," he concluded.
