Las Tunas, Cuba.- Rafael Torres Rosales, director of Economy and Planning in the province, corroborated to the Cuban News Agency that in order to materialize the initiatives, the advice of the Articulated Platform of Integral Territorial Development (Padit) plays an important role, a program directed to consolidate the performance of local governments and the several protagonists of the communities.
The director said that progress has been made in the territories to design their portfolio of projects, based on a strategic concepts aimed at financing development in the settlements. He also highlighted the work of the municipality of Jobabo, where it is projected the recovery of the courtyard of the París hotel and the functioning of a bar, with barbecue service, and it is planned to continue with the rehabilitation of the rest of that facility, an emblem of that town.
In "Colombia", Local Development projects conceive the production of furniture from guaniquiqui fibers, a wild liana that originates in the wetlands or on the margins of the rivers, a resistant and flexible natural resource, very used by the artisans of the municipality.
In Puerto Padre, the rehabilitation of the seawall and the quay of the northern city is promoted, and progress is being made in the propagation of mini-industries for the production of food and construction materials.
In recent years, the Local Development projects have made possible in the city of Las Tunas, among other works, the rehabilitation of the FerroviarioHotel, as well as technological improvements in the bottling of beer and the production of cement in the Constructive Maintenance Company.
