The inhabitants of "Amancio" reviewed the work that was carried out in the constituency 17 of La Carretera district, in this municipality.

"Amancio", Las Tunas.- The Abdalá family, Iluminado Diego and Héctor Mendoza were the first to settle in those unpopulated lands of the local geography, which before the triumph of the Revolution were planted with sugarcane.

The delivery of plots for the construction of homes began in the 60's and in 1973 the Juan Manuel Ameijeiras Polytechnic Institute, where different teaching levels are implemented now, the Bus Terminal and two gastronomic centers were inaugurated.

The revolutionary transformations in this area also allowed the construction of the Principitos de Vilma childcare center, the agricultural market, an office of the family's doctor and nurse, a park, the youth computer club, the maternity home and a cultural complex.

The Community Work Group of the demarcation organizes, directs and controls the actions aimed at improving the quality of life of the inhabitants there.

As it was known, the main projection for the remainder of the year is to achieve greater popular participation in the activities promoted by the mass organizations, which have an integration of 98 percent.

Likewise, they should increase the realization of sports and cultural activities mainly on weekends and achieve a greater confrontation to the indisciplines that are committed in the Cupet shop and in the Youth Park during the night time.

Meanwhile, care for pregnant women, children, elderly and bedridden patients is a priority for the health authorities in the area. Social Assistance reaches nine families that group 15 people, while three others are linked to the Family Service System.

There are also promoted the different subprograms of urban agriculture with 62 courtyards: 21 with ornamental plants, 15 with medicinal plants, 11 with fruits, 10 destined to the raising of birds and five to the raising of pigs.

The Juan Manuel Ameijeiras School and the Principitos de Vilma childcare center maintain close links with the community, becoming the most important cultural centers of the district.

The six percent of the housing fund classifies between regular or bad; so as part of the constructive program they were granted two subsidies to undertake actions in this regard.

In the same way, the 47 and 49 streets were repaired, the hydro sanitary network of the Juan Manuel Ameijeiras School was installed, luminaries were placed in internal areas of the computing club and some leaks were suppressed.

Other community complaints remain without answers, for which the involvement of municipal entities and institutions is required. It is still to conclude the revamping and repair of some streets, as well as the carriages rank and the cleaning of sewage systems.
