With this increase, the basic salary of the workers in the budgeted sector is raised up to four times; and it allows staggering the salary pyramid of the country, since a minimum salary of 400.00 Cuban pesos (CUP) is established and the maximum amounts to three thousand, as the President of the Councils of State and Ministers of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez explained in Pinar del Río last June.
On that occasion, the president warned that after the entry into force of this provision this month, prices may not increase in state and private services, because it is designed to make people have more purchasing power, and not to enrich themselves at their expense.
