Las Tunas.- Members of the Youth Movement for Social Equity, a group sponsored by the Oscar Arnulfo Romero center, of the Cuban capital, maintain an active work in this province to carry the message of the Evoluciona national campaign to the population, for the nonviolence towards women and girls.

Arcel Espinosa Ochoa, a medical student and member of the movement, comments that the communication initiative is aimed at young people aged 18 to 24. "It arises from the need to address the issue of harassment, which occurs in the country many times in an overlapping way and finds justification in our culture and idiosyncrasy; we cannot confuse it with the compliment, because it has clear differences."

Recently, this movement participated in a community fair in this city, to honor the 59th anniversary of the Federation of Cuban Women, well known as FMC by all Cuban women. They exhibited a mural in which several people imprinted the places where women are more likely to be harassed.

According to the journalist Danielle Laurencio Gómez, a member of this project, based on the results of the experience, they intend to define creative activities with local artists in the places where these situations occur the most. "The local women have also shared their stories about that form of violence, of which we are often unaware."

Evoluciona intends to make women visible and calls to develop thinking towards realities that have historically been silenced. From the social networks and other spaces, they deploy the initiative with the language of young people to achieve the desired changes.

Laurencio said that "during a social experiment of the campaign, a woman went out to the streets of Havana to harass the men and we obtained several conclusions. They said it is not normal, they felt fear, or they said she was crazy. In a pleasant and casual way, we try to exchange the roles to carry such an important message.

"We need to raise our voices and be aware not only to end gender violence, but to any manifestation of discrimination that exists in society."

Arcel matches the criteria of her partner, and from this group he has been able to contribute to a common good. "You can transmit the acquired knowledge and at the same time apply it in daily life. In my profession, for example, it allows me to achieve equity in medical care according to the patient's needs.

"At the same time, at home," helping mom ", we no longer see it as a contribution to a job that only belongs to her, but it is part of our duty. It is not easy to assume it because of the teachings that we receive, but when you learn it, you feel the need to fulfill that responsibility."

Undoubtedly, gender violence has many faces and street sexual harassment is a less visible expression from the legal and the social, which legitimizes male superiority. Changing the look of this issue and other behaviors associated with the control of the woman's body is the central axis of Evoluciona during four years.
