With an average higher than 20 thousand liters per day so far in August and a cumulative figure that exceeds two million 700 thousand liters in 2019, milk production in this municipality behaves satisfactorily, and with prospects of keeping pace, if water and food for cattle are guaranteed in the last months of the year, when drought begins to worsen.

Jobabo, Las Tunas.- As a sum up of the second week of August, sales to the State exceeded 20 thousand liters per day, highlighting a significant contribution of the Jorge Aleaga Peña and Adriano Nieves Credit and Service cooperatives, known by the agricultural workers as CCS. These cooperatives were quite close to 100 thousand liters in July and have possibilities of holding similar figures until the end of November.

Both units, whose milk production are between 300 thousand and 400 thousand liters, are the ones that decide the milk production in Jobabo, with annual contributions calculated in more than one third of the total received by the Dairy Industry and Commerce.

Nevertheless, the infrastructure for the transfer, especially the bad situation of the roads, plays against almost fifty producers, most of them from the rural areas of Limón Dulce and Tres Marías.

Of the rest of the CCSs, the "Antonio Fernández" stands out, with great potential, but equally affected by the roads condition, and the "Victoriano Martínez," which fulfill its commitments despite the fact that a part of the roads do not offer guarantees to transport a volume that they calculate in almost two thousand liters daily.

Although the general figures are very good, in the individualities there is an unequal productive development. The Sabino Pupo Agricultural Production Cooperative (CPA) is an example of this. It is located in one of the rainiest areas of Jobabo, Cañada de Palma, but it is where less milk is taken out, accounting only 249 liters at the end of July, and the lowest accumulated amount in the entire local livestock sector, along with the rest of the CPAs.

A contradictory fact is that the State units do not have a production and delivery plan. Those who assume all the commitments with the Dairy Industry and Commerce are the entities of the cooperative and peasant sector, including the eight UBPCs registered in the municipality, which contribute to date with humble 500 thousand liters, compared to almost the two million that have the CCS.

As a conclusion, the State production is going backwards when comparing the figures of milk production from previous years with those of 2019, even when the general numbers of the municipality denote a takeoff that places Jobabo among the top positions at the provincial level.
