The Observatory against Violence in all population groups will open its doors next October in this province, to offer guidance and accompany those victims of physical and psychological attacks.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- According to Mayelín Ayala García, officer of the STI HIV / AIDS Project in Las Tunas, the details of the place that will provide the service in the Provincial Center of Hygiene, Epidemiology and Microbiology during different times of the week are finalized. "In the beginning, we thought about focusing on men who have sex with other men and women who practice sex in exchange for money or other privileges (transactional sex).

Dr. Mayelín Ayala García"However, the need to bring the information to the entire population without any distinction between the groups was imposed. There are no records of the number of women affected by this problem, but it is significant. From here we will provide support and legal advice to those who go through these situations".

The coordinators of the different program lines, psychologists and officers will work together. They will be led by the legal staff in order to direct those who suffer an act of violence. "We give them the tools and show the way they should follow, but the decision to make a complaint to the corresponding instances is personal and voluntary," says Ayala.

Violence is a widespread behavior in society and can affect anyone regardless of sex, age, or race. Various studies and the practice itself demonstrate the existence of psychological abuse, which is usually accompanied by physical or sexual attacks.

As invisible as it may seem, it leaves sequels in the body and in spirituality, reflected in sustained stress, disorientation, demotivation, low self-esteem, sleep disorders, depression ... However, this form has been so naturalized in society that many people do not know when they are violated.

Ayala also talked about community interventions, educational talks and the work of the Centers for Orientation of Women and Family that serve as a stage to unmask this social phenomenon.
