The strict savings measures and the temporary stoppage of all the production processes in the Golden Hill mine are related to the energy situation that the country is experiencing these days and the intensification of the blockade of the United States against Cuba.

Jobabo, Las Tunas.- This mine is one of the largest energy and fuel consumers. More than 75 thousand kilowatts, 25 thousand liters of diesel and 27 thousand liters of gasoline every month; an expense that is impossible to assume with the current low availability in fuel supply.

Yoendri Gómez Avilés, director of "Golden Hill," explained that at this time, they carry out maintenance actions and adjustments of the equipment so as not to waste time when starting work again, and recover a part of the delay in production.

Gómez Avilés says that the modernized technology that was installed in previous months allows a greater capacity for processing the ore, so they can maintain a higher weekly rate than the one afforded in early 2019.

According to statistics, the mine paralyzed the production with an accumulated of about 40 kilograms of gold, less than half of its annual plan, which is 100 kilograms, a figure that is difficult to recover in the remainder of the year.
