Las Tunas, Cuba.- The president of the Provincial Assembly of the People´s Power, Jaime Chiang Vega reported that "for this process, we have the support of the new generation, represented by members of the Young Communist League (UJC), the University Students Federation (FEU) and the Middle School Students Federation (FEEM), among other structures.
In that sense, the President of the Assembly, together with the Vice President, Irma Apiau González and the Secretary, Juan Carlos Hernández González, stated that the conscious and responsible work of young people highlight, not only as activists but also in each of the communities, because dozens of them are delegates of the constituencies.
This accountability process has the motto "From the community, we think Cuba". It has been preceded by the preliminary review of more than 3,220 areas in which the assemblies will be held. It is worth mentioning the exchange between the president of the Provincial Assembly with the 83 presidents of popular councils to verify the actions and the preparation of the 668 delegates of the territory, emphasizing more than 70 delegates that for the first time exercise this function.
Until September 20th, 2019, just days after starting this demonstration of democracy in Cuba, there were still 484 approaches pending for solution of the 9,595 collected at the November and December meetings.
DIRECT RESPONSE OF INSTITUTIONS TO ELECTORS, A PRIORITY IN ACCOUNTABILITY IN LAS TUNAS
The direct response of the institutions on the approaches made by the population will constitute a cardinal point of the accountability process.
During the meeting of the highest authorities of the Provincial Assembly of the People's Power with representatives of the media in the territory it was explained that on this occasion the answers will not be given to delegates, as has been done regularly, but to the person who raised the concern.
They meant that in the midst of economic difficulties, conditions have been created to develop the process with quality and that the 384 solution commitments have a convincing response.
The 76 delegates that will be in the process for the first time, as well as the 590 young activists, most of them, students who will support the 3,332 meetings planned, and who will finally give their considerations on the development of accountability, received the corresponding preparation.
The eight municipalities will have the community work as a strength, in which the province is a reference five years ago due to the direct and systematic contact of the delegates with their constituents, to know the concerns and give solutions to the approaches through the local management and the institutions support.
During the 45 days in which the accountability assemblies will take place in Las Tunas, the priorities of the current situation will not be neglected, such as the distribution of the basic basket, food production, housing construction and the fight against the Aedes aegypti mosquito.
