Las Tunas, Cuba.- The event was attended by Manuel Pérez Gallego, first secretary of the Cuban Party in Las Tunas, Jaime Chiang Vega, president of the Government at the same level, and by directors of the core business units of the industry and of attention to sugarcane producers from Camagüey to the province of Guantánamo.
José Carlos Santos Ferrer, vice president of Azcuba, said that "Majibacoa" was chosen due to the strength achieved by the same managers and workers who, years ago, were in the group of the most critical sugar factories in Cuba, and today are an example for the whole country, in terms of punctuality, production and efficiency, thanks to a comprehensive work system that merits to be implemented in other industries.
In this regard, Víctor Torres González, as well as José Caballero, director and head of Maintenance of the Majibacoa sugar mill, respectively, explained in detail the procedure applied in each area and the role that corresponds to the intermediate chiefs, technicians, specialists, mechanics, tinkers and each worker, to achieve the labor and technological discipline, and the fulfillment of their missions.
"It is a method that requires a lot of demand, control and hours of sleeplessness, but once the conditions are created and that everyone takes the sign and is guided by it, everything is easier and even the work is more comfortable," said Víctor.
To the above requirements José Carlos added, and even, attributed equal or more importance, the fact of having a management staff that preaches by example and has placed workers at the center of his management.
After explaining that so far the repairs are going well, with more than 80 percent of physical progress, Torres González said that if the few remaining resources arrived soon, the "Majibacoa" could begin the milling on November 10th and not the 22nd as scheduled in the official start-up calendar.
"That same commitment guides the actions of the sugarcane suppliers and industrial workers of the "Antonio Guiteras" and "Colombia" sugar mills, in which the repairs also go as planned so far," said Rafael Pantaleón Quevedo, director of the Sugar Company in Las Tunas.
At the end of the day, Violeta Mesa Castillo, general director of the Sugar Company in Guantánamo, congratulated, on behalf of the visitors, the collective of the "Majibacoa" for the sustained achievements in production and efficiency, and thanked them for sharing their valuable experiences that they will transmit to the sugar producers in their respective provinces.
