Las Tunas University Promotes Doctoral Training

The incorporation of young professors into doctoral training programs constitutes one of the fundamental lines of work of the University of Las Tunas. The center will begin the external evaluation process on November 23 and this is one of the indicators of great relevance, according to the statements of Yoenia Virgen Barbán Sarduy, its first vice-rector, to 26Digital.

In recent years, the number of doctors in the house of high studies has grown from the outlined strategies. However, since September, specific actions have been carried out with a view to having a significant group of teachers under 35 years old in the doctoral programs of Environmental Sciences and Organizational Management, from the universities of Oriente and Holguín, respectively.

Barbán Sarduy said that "this will have a positive impact on the scientific preparation of the teaching staff because we need that young teachers to raise our scientific and academic composition and, in addition, to increase quality standards." It is required to guarantee the scientific generational replacement in order to achieve the sustainability of the Higher Education processes.

The vice rector added that the most important challenge that the University has in this period is the accreditation, an evaluation that will be developed by more than 40 experts from all over the country to measure the main indicators of the methodological, research and extension areas. Five years ago, work is being done to face the process and at this moment, after the delivery of the self-assessment report, they ensure the teaching plans, the relevance of the scientific work and the implication of all the factors.

Students are an essential axis in this regard as protagonists of the learning process. The center has all the human and material resources to develop a successful school year, even though the enrollment exceeds that of previous years. This required a study of the infrastructure for the assurance of the classrooms and of the technological availability, in order that the integral formation has the necessary requirements in any of its modalities.
