If it had not been for the last-minute decision adopted by the Azcuba Sugar Group to replace the lower dome of the number one boiler, the workers of the Majibacoa sugar mill would have advanced by November 10 the opening of the 2019-2020 harvest in Las Tunas, as they had promised.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- So it could be that, with the exception of that area, the remaining ones have almost completed the repairs, currently being in the phase of partial testing that precedes the general exercise with cane.

Víctor Torres González, director, said that despite the challenge of executing a work of such magnitude in a short time - at most 40 days -, the official date of November 22 to start the milling is maintained.

In order to achieve that objective, the workers in charge of the task, among which are support brigades of the Industrial Technical Services Company (ZETI) of Santiago Cuba and specialists of the boiler factory of Villa Clara, work full time in the creation of the conditions that allow the assembly of the new dome and the tube bundle, from which they will carry out the boring and to execute the reverberation work.

Despite the tremendous effort that means the execution of the task, it was welcomed by workers and managers, not only because of how much it represents for the energy efficiency of the factory, but because it avoids the potential occurrence of an accident with unpredictable consequences at work.

Meanwhile, there is the possibility that the "Colombia" will start the harvest before November 30 - date established by the official schedule while the "Antonio Guiteras" ratify that it will begin on December 2.
