Elena Chagues Leyva, general secretary of the Cuban Workers' Confederation (CTC) in this province, explains that this figure includes workers and their families, the people in general, who will attend the 87 events planned in the municipal and provincial capitals, and communities; where have already begun the celebrations for this important date, as a sign of commitment and unity, as well, with the causes of the peoples of the world.
She also said that, around 125 thousand workers and their relatives will be at the Mayor General Vicente García Main Square to reaffirm the unconditional support and respect for the legacy of Fidel and all the heroes and martyrs of the Homeland, and " they will do so with awareness of the historical responsibility of the current generations with the defense of the irreversibility of socialism and its social achievements".
She said that the block of the Trade Union of Education, Science and Sports, led by the local baseball team well-known as ´´ Leñadores´´, will open the parade. This baseball team represented the province with the second place reached in the last National Baseball Series.

Chagues Leyva praised the commitment of the sugar producers to welcome the anniversary of the world proletariat with the production of 110 thousand tons of crude, an activity of vital importance for the local and national economy.
She said that they are developing days of decisive efforts in those fronts with voluntary mobilizations that promote the sowing of cane, sweet potato, beans, cassava and cultural attention to these plantations. Also, as part of the plan prior to the celebration some meetings have been held with young and veteran union leaders, tours of heroes of the Work of the Republic of Cuba and combatants of Girón by work centers; sports marathons and a cultural gala was held last night at the Tunas theater for the award ceremony of workers and union leaders.
