September has been a hard month for the Francisco (Paco) Cabrera Metal Structures Company, also known as Metunas, in this province of eastern Cuba.

The vaccine against the tick of cattle, which is named Gavac, is capable of triggering an effective response against this mite that causes anemia and hinders animal growth. It is manufactured in Cuba by researchers from the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology. The state agriculture companies and some private producers also apply it in the country.

The Observatory against Violence in all population groups will open its doors next October in this province, to offer guidance and accompany those victims of physical and psychological attacks.
