The agricultural development in the productive units incorporated to the Melanio Ortiz pole's fruit development program to supply the canning industry and the priorities to achieve local food self-sufficiency were analyzed by the first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba in Las Tunas, Manuel Pérez Gallego, who visited the main productive area of Jobabo.
The month of August ended with discrete results in the planting of sugarcane (900 hectares), hence the sugarcane producers now speed up the planting, with the intention of turning September into the most productive month of the cold season, which extends throughout the second semester.
