Las Tunas won the first game of the final playoff against Industriales.

With Rodolfo Díaz to the rescue again and the Denis Peña-Yosvani Alarcón duo producing four runs, the Las Tunas team completed an exercise in collective maturity on Saturday by taking a 7-2 win against Industriales in the first game of the 62nd Baseball Series final, despite not working like the machinery it has been since midseason.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- Before an electrical failure extinguished half the lights of the Julio Antonio Mella Park at the height of the fifth episode, the tensions of the final surfaced quickly in the Lumberjacks headquarters. The young Silvano Hechevarría accused all the pressure to open for the blue ship in the first innings, while the local squad was unproductive and made too many physical and mental errors.

All in all, the novel pitcher with a past in Las Tunas managed to walk until the middle of the match, although the bullpen failed mentor Guillermo Carmona this time. Neither the Rookie of the Year Rafael Perdomo nor the defeated Frank Ernesto Herrera could do justice to a local team that shot 13 hits.

The Lumberjacks' power at bat reduced the weight of too many mistakes in the defense and the tactical game, coming back in the final third with three runs in the seventh act and another two in the eighth.

First baseman Denis Peña hit a home run and a double, while Yosvani Alarcón produced a 3-for-5 run and both drove in two runs to lead the Las Tunas attack. Right fielder Héctor Castillo seconded them with a double and a triple in four at-bats, accompanied by Dánel Castro (3-2/R/RBI) and Yúnior Josué Otero, who went 1 for 2 and received three walks.

On the mound, Alejandro Meneses allowed his second earned run of the entire postseason, while Rodolfo Díaz was again a safe bet and walked without too many problems from the fifth inning until the end of the game.

This Sunday, again at 6:00 pm, the rookie left-handed Eliánder Bravo will open for Las Tunas, and the right-handed Raymond Figueredo will be Industriales bet from the mound.
