The 4 de Mayo Voluntary Sports Complex (CVD), in Jobabo, will be the epicenter of recreational softball for sports clubs when, on Sunday the 25th, it hosts the provincial final on its premises; in a contest with more than two decades of uninterrupted activity.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- The teams of the sports clubs Aldemis Martínez, from “Jesús Menéndez;” Pablo Peña, from Majibacoa; and Evaristo Barrios, from Jobabo, arrived at the concluding event after triumphing in the zonal phase. The absence of the “Paco Cabrera”, from the Vázquez community, in Puerto Padre, left the title obtained in the previous edition during 2023 at the mercy of new contenders.

Through the northern key, the “Adelmis Martínez”, without many complications, left the representatives of Radio Libertad, Puerto Padre, on the road. In the easternmost of the Las Tunas municipalities, the practice of softball has gained followers and turned it into a tradition, hence the stable results in recent years.

In another historic plaza for the “yellow ball”, the popular council of Gastón hosted the victory of the locals against the COPEXTEL and Ángel López teams, both from the provincial capital.

The southern demarcation, once again, evidenced the hegemony of the "Evaristo Barrios" by smoothly overcoming the team of Combined Sports Center of the Colombia municipality. Although those from Jobabo boast a certain respect in the competition, the instability of regional rivals opened them the doors to the final stage.

Sunday's competition will allow the members of the athletic movement in the Cuban Eastern Balcony to exchange roles again: from the stands to the diamond, in a festival of passions that involves the efforts of many activists. Meanwhile, the occasion serves to recognize outstanding club members, as well as the promoters of sports activities in the different localities who, with scarce resources, make healthy recreation flourishing.
