Children defended Cuban tradition at the Cucalambeana Fiesta

Pride, enthusiasm, and the durability of traditions converged in the participation of children from Las Tunas in the Cucalambeana Fiesta, which said goodbye on July 2 with the satisfaction of having paid honor, once again, to Juan Cristóbal Nápoles Fajardo, El Cucalambé, the most important Cuban bucolic poet of the 19th century.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- An example of these essences was La Tierra de mis Amores children's show, at the Cultural Plaza, under the artistic direction of Anaís Ray; which defended the Cuban identity while denouncing the danger of cultural colonization.

Actress Elizabeth Borrero, the projects "Raíces de San José", from the provincial capital, and "Futuro", from the municipality of Colombia, represented peasant traditions and the importance of their safeguarding.

The Cantos de Colibrí space, at El Cornito, deserves a special mention. It was attended by children belonging to the improvisation workshops and projects from various municipalities, such as "Arcoiris," which is fruitful under the Dynamization and Development of the Socio-Cultural and Productive Life Project, of the municipality of Majibacoa, and art instructors Yurima A. Rondón and Yosel González.

"Las Hormigas Rojas" and "Los Pinos Nuevos" -from the municipality of Jobabo-, the Huracán Mágico Company, and the musical group Nueva Raíz were some of the casts that, through tunes, controversies, typical dances, and other initiatives, demonstrated how much children defend and keep alive the roots of the Cuban countryside hand in hand with their elders.
