San Salvador,  German Mesa, a living legend of Cuban baseball, is currently facing up to a new challenge in his magical sports career: to make Salvadoran national baseball team much more competitive for Managua-2017.

The Salvadoran Baseball Federation has recently announced to whom many describe as the most spectacular shortstop in Cuban baseball history, in order to train local ballplayers for 2017 Central American Games next December.

Dubbed 'German El Iman (The Magnet)' for his infielding ability as a shortstop and arm, Mesa will have as coach assistants Cubans Javier Galvez and Ricardo Elzmendiz, pitching coach and physical trainer, respectively.

'This country is quite talented. I am pretty motivated with the training results to Salvadoran ballplayers, always aiming to win. Our goal is not only to go to the 2017 Central American Games, but to fight for the gold medal,' said Mesa.

Galvez oversaw local pitchers' potential and valued their desire to progress, while Elzmendiz is envisioning a personalized physical training plan, and Mesa is working to encourage a winning mind in them.
