Despaigne, who was recently selected the best player of the island in the year 2017, is now on vacations in Hawai, a stimulus granted to the members of Japanese baseball Pacific League champion, the Softbank Falcons.
In his statements to Prensa Latina, the Cuban 31-year-old player confessed he would only play with the team Granma.
'I spent too much time far away from my family, I don't want to play with another uniform, not even for a month,' said the Cuban player when he was asked if he would play with another team, if Granma does not get classified.
He also expressed his wish to play the Caribbean Series, a tournament gathering the best teams in the Caribbean.
He stated that he is confident that Granma will be champion once again, and was grateful to the Cuban National Baseball Federation for giving him such a distinction a few days ago.
Its contract with the Softbank concludes in 2020, a moment about which he is not yet thinking.
'I will be there until that year and then I will make a decision with my career. It depends on many things and I would lie to you now, if I say to you what I am going to do', he expressed.
