The Lumberjacks got the ticket to the Cuban baseball final.

For the third time in its history, the Leñadores (Lumberjacks) from Las Tunas will dispute the Cuban baseball title, after winning 5-4 on Saturday and taking a tremendous semifinal against the Crocodiles from Matanzas.

Consolidated in the hope of remaining in the fight, the Crocodiles once again imposed on the Lumberjacks in extra innings; this time, with a score of 2-1, and extended the semifinal to a sixth challenge.

In a duel of emotions from the beginning to the very end, the Lumberjacks took advantage of the sporadic fissures of the pitching from Matanzas to prevail 5-3 in the fourth duel of the semifinal and finally broke with “the curse of the swamp,” where they had conceded six consecutive defeats in postseason stages.

With a couple of proofs of their batting power, in the form of a five-scoring rally, the Lumberjacks defeated Matanzas 11-4 to extend their undefeated postseason run and set the path for the “Victoria de Girón” with the cup half full.
