Wushu Athletes from Las Tunas Win Medals at International Event

The Rufino Alay Chang Provincial School of Wushu, based in the city of Puerto Padre and Reference Center for the eastern region of the country, won nine awards at the International Wushu Tournament developed online by the end of April.

Puerto Padre, Las Tunas.- The results of the tournament were reported this week by the International Federation of the discipline, headquartered in the People's Republic of China when it was known that the representatives of the “Blue Village” achieved two gold, six silver, and one bronze, for a total of nine medals.

The first places were received by the multi-awarded athlete Cynthia Rodríguez Justo, in the fists modality; and Andy Peña Ávila, in the sword. Cynthia also achieved second place in the sword.

The other silver medals were for Mei Hua Rodríguez Justo, sword; Angie Peña Ávila, fists; Miguel Ramírez Estévez, fist and sword; and Erick Tornés Viamontes, sword. Angie added to her silver medal the only bronze that the sports institution conquered.

The harvest of nine awards of the Puerto Padre's School of Wushu in the International Event of the discipline corroborates the social and sports status of this institution.

In the International Wushu Tournament, developed online for the first time, nearly a thousand athletes from all continents participated, 114 of them representing Cuba.
