The prices are the same for the different forms of management

The top authorities of the Cuban Communist Party (PCC) and the Government, together with public administration officials from various sectors, explained the different prices that from this moment on will have some products in high demand, as part of the Ordering Task.

Las Tunas, Cuba.- The new rates also apply to agricultural products that, taking into account those established in July 2019, are not significantly increased and seek a balance between increased production and consumption.

Remigio Almaguer Rodríguez, a Price specialist at the Provincial Collection Company, explained that this entity, in conjunction with Finance and Prices and the government agencies of the territory, specified the value of grains, fruits, vegetables and meats that are not basic in the traditional diet; another 17 lines such as rice, coffee, sugar, beans, plantain, fresh milk and tobacco are already defined, centrally, by the Council of Ministers.

The specialist emphasized that “coordination is carried out so that in the different forms of management, whether state or not, the prices are the same or, at least, that they do not have notable differences." Likewise, he insisted on the "control that from this moment should prevail in the agricultural markets so as not to violate the established, respect the quality-price parameters and that the population is not affected."

“The new prices - said the Governor of the province, Jaime Chiang Vega - also seek to increase production and most of them have been concentrated on what is paid to the producer. It is important that we know that in the case of the plantain, for example, it is bought at 3.34 pesos; that is, it is sold almost at cost. There are other products that vary their rates, but they do not increase more than twice in relation to what was established in July 2019 by the local governments.”
